Digital Etiquette for Elementary Students
It is important that we strive to become great communicators online. There are several things we need to remember when we are posting, emailing, twittering, snap chatting, or using Facebook. Each child will learn the 7 rules for online etiquette in our classroom before we start with our technology.
1. Context is everything ~ use appropriate screen names
2. Doule-check before you hit send ~ read what you are sending; if it appears rude, sarcastic, or mean
do not send it
3. Take the high road ~ no good can come of writing/sending something in the heat of the moment
4. Grammar Rules ~ grammar counts when communicating
5. Keep a Secret ~ don't post things that will embarrass or hurt people
6. Don't hide ~ kids should use untraceable screen names; but not for hurting people
7. REMEMBER the GOLDEN RULE ~ don't say something online that you would not say to someone's face
